Copenhagen Fashion Week: Ganni AW17
Just a couple of weeks before Valentine's day, Ganni presented its love-filled Autumn/Winter '17 collection, 'Love Society'. Don't expect pastels, light fabrics and whimsical styles that come part and parcel of those pre-conceived notions of a woman in love, though; the Ganni girl is about strength, individuality and not sticking to the norm.
As such, the Ganni AW17 show was hosted in what can only be described as an abandoned warehouse on the edge of the city - all raw concrete and pink neon lights. One by one the models came out in outfits that took traditional femininity and turned it on its head.
There was the long, white ruffled dress that harked back to the Victoria era, paired with red PVC flats and a short androgynous haircut. Then there was the heart-print co-ord worn with flatforms and a red puffa jacket, full black midi skirt worn over trousers and paired with a hoodie, and ruffled strappy top layered on top of a pinstripe suit.
Print-wise, there were heart appliques on '70s-inspired sweater vests paired with high-waisted red trousers, large florals on loose black silk dresses with matching trousers underneath and a welcome dose of leopard print, found in dresses worn over a checked suit, and in a bralet peaking through an oversized masculine suit.
