The Coggles Playlist: What We’re Listening to in November

loyle carner

It’s safe to say that the Coggles Playlist is nothing but eclectic, put together by various music-obsessed team members and added to weekly with the tracks they currently can’t stop listening to. From retro sounds to confessional hip hop, these are the songs that we’ve had on repeat throughout November.

Khruangbin – ‘Maria También’

The first single from their soon-to-be-released album Con Todo El Mundo, ‘Maria También’ from Texas trio Khruangbin is an ode to the creativity of Iranian women pre-1979 revolution, when rights were lost and women largely removed from public life. The band’s signature sound that blends funk, soul, psych and international influences are all there too.

Salad Boys – ‘Exaltation’

From New Zealand three-piece Salad Boys comes ‘Exaltation’, a slightly melancholic track complete with broody vocals that sounds as though it could have been released 25 years ago – in a good way. This is the first song of Salad Boys’ new LP This Is Glue, due for release in early 2018.

Loyle Carner – ‘Sun Of Jean’

It’s difficult to pick one track from Loyle Carner’s debut album Yesterday’s Gone, released earlier this year. The south Londoner is changing the face of British hip hop with his confessional approach to song writing, highly personal touch to his music and laid-back sound. Listen to ‘Sun Of Jean’ to get a feeling of Loyle Carner (real name Ben Loyle-Carner) as an artist, featuring spoken word from his mum and piano from his late dad.

Tame Impala – ‘List of People (To Try and Forget About)’

A year and a half on from its original release, Tame Impala have re-released a special collector’s edition of award-winning album Currents in red marbled vinyl including some unreleased B-sides which offer fans a stop-gap before any new material. 'List of People' is our pick from the collection.
