Copenhagen Fashion Week SS21 Round Up

We've been treated to a Copenhagen Fashion Week like no other this year. One of the sartorial highlights of the year, all eyes were firmly fixed on the Danish capital for a selection of curated events, virtual experiences and expert talks. Leading the way for sustainability in the industry, CFW was the first to announce that brands had to meet a set of sustainability requirements in order to be featured on the show schedule, aiming to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% in the next three years. So for all the best bits from '72 Hours of Fashion, Live and Digital', here's the best five things we saw at Copenhagen Fashion Week SS21.

As well as runway shows and presentations from our favourite Scandinavian designers, we were invited to listen in on intimate Q&A sessions with a variety of brands including Samsoe Samsoe and Vestiaire Collective Co-Founder Fanny Moizant to name a few.

#1 House of Goya SS21

Delivering our seasonal dose of Scandi 2.0, House of Goya SS21 stayed true to the signature bold colour palette and prints of previous collections. This season Stine Goya brought us a curated video celebrating the creative talent, friends and family of the brand. Hosted at Copenhagen HQ, 21 Stine Goya ambassadors showcased the bright pops of pastels and abstract prints of the SS21 collection, among the creatives were artist Coline Morotta as well as actor and social justice activist Amelia Hoy.

#2 GANNI

Showing us why they're leading by example when it comes to sustainability in fashion,GANNI kicked off Copenhagen Fashion Week with an exhibition as well as the launch of their denim rental service in collaboration with Levi's. The rental service is the first of it's kind featuring specially designed denim pieces with a distinctive GANNI edge. Featuring oversized collars, western shirts and denim jeans, the collection 'Designed to be worn by many, owned by none' has been created for customers to rent before sending back for others to also have the opportunity to wear in the future. Instead of a runway show this year, GANNI curated a three-day exhibition uniting the GANNI community from London to Montreal. Guests enjoyed everything from installations, to life size cardboard cutouts of GANNI pieces from the archives. The exhibition also featured a video showcasing new season pieces floating and flying around the room!

#3 Remain Birger Christensen

Elevating timeless classic pieces with a sophisticated Scandinavian edge, Remain Birger Christensen showcased their SS21 collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week with a sunstained presentation. Featuring a blend of burnt oranges and turquoise with more muted monochrome colours, tailored trenches and collared short sleeve shirts were stand out pieces. Leather was a focal fabric with pants, shirts and trenches in structured designs all noticeable trends. Teamed with feminine barely there strappy mules and sandals, working perfectly as a juxtaposition to the androgynous style of the collection.

A derelict swimming pool surrounded by overgrown greenery was the backdrop to RAINS 'Never Lost' SS21 presentation at Copenhagen Fashion Week this year. With a range of contemporary waterproof jackets and accessories, the collection was presented in a digital experience offering exploration of the collection through a range of multi perspective scenarios. In a variety of monochrome shades and technical fabrics the SS21 collection is a must-have for elevating your style, while also reaping the functionality benefits.

#5 RIXO

Flying the flag for the UK, RIXO's 'Spring Meadows' SS21 collection felt right at home during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Following the announcement that the brand will be saying goodbye to seasonal drops and swapping to a series of seven new collections a year, RIXO will be focussing on becoming more ethical in terms of product and more in-sync with the real world seasons. The SS21 collection launched with a specially curated film showcasing the brands signature vintage inspired prints in colourful dresses, tops and skirts all worn by friends of the brand #humansofrixo. The collection boasted a range of signature mixed prints and feminine shapes perfect for transitioning through the seasons.
