London Fashion Week Men’s: Oliver Spencer SS18

London - and the rest of the UK - was in need of a bit of love, and Oliver Spencer gave it to us this season at London Fashion Week Men's. After a year that can only be described as turbulent, at best, and on the day the results of the snap general election had the opportunity to divide a nation, Spencer chose to unite and celebrate London's diversity and tough resilience.

The Oliver Spencer SS18 collection was aptly named Love Town, his models, as ever a diverse mix, and his clothes an optimistic look on the British summer. Following on from his AW17 collection, Spencer created parka coats that could seamlessly turn into a stylish backpack - with shades that were your classic and practical neutral and olive tones (after all, you'll need to cater for the inevitable rain).

As for the rest of the collection, it was typical Oliver Spencer with his signature cropped trousers, relaxed tailoring and a modern take on utilitarianism. He showed that dusky pink (or millennial pink, if you will) is going nowhere with suits made of collarless jackets and cuffed shorts, loose fitting trousers and those striped t-shirts that make an updated appearance season after season.

The checkered trouser was given a new lease of life, too, this time with a large print and relaxed silhouette, while vivid blues reminiscent of a Sicilian doorway were best worn with suede tobacco-coloured trousers. The end of the Oliver Spencer SS18 show brought it back to what it was all about, with all models ending the show with 'LOVE TOWN'-emblazoned tees, created in collaboration with artist David Austen.
