London Fashion Week: Vivienne Westwood Red Label SS16
True to form, the Vivienne Westwood Red Label SS16 collection was an act of protest, this time against politicians whom Westwood states are committing crimes against humanity with every action they take.
The show opened with model and activist friends of the designer lined up in a row, complete with placards stating that austerity and fracking are crimes and calling for a climate revolution, and dressed in what can only be described as oversized party hats.
Models sauntered past the demonstration in signature Vivienne Westwood draping, voluptuous feminine silhouettes, tartan and clashing prints. Spring-ready dresses in pale yellow, dusty pink and pale blue came with nipped-in waists and belted details; shirting was reconstructed and draped over models’ bodies; and full printed dresses and skirts came with alternate prints on the back.
