The London Fashion Week 411 | Best in class designers

As London Fashion Week draws to a close, we look back over the whirlwind of a week. With over 100 designers featured in the schedule including elite brands such as Burberry and Richard Quinn, we visited some of the favourite brands we stock.

From pink pop-up stores to Moncler's multisensory live event that caused a storm on social media with the likes of Justin Bieber in attendance and Pharrell Williams performing. Not to mention that Vivienne Westwood, the Queen of Punk's funeral coincidently fell the day before London Fashion Week kicked off. With so much to report, here's a round-up of we caught...

When Is London Fashion Week?

London Fashion Week this year was from the 17th to the 21st of February 2023.

What shows did we visit?

#1 RIXO

British brand Rixo is known for its vintage-inspired designs often with traditional prints and very flattering shapes. In this collection, the designers went back to their roots and focused on ready-to-wear occasionwear. True glamour with full embellished pieces and gold chrome floor-length dresses.

This collection is really significant for Henrietta and I. We’ve gone back to our roots and focused on an extension of our ready-to-wear range of true-occasion Rixo pieces filled with beautiful styles designed to make you feel amazing.

Titled the 'Goddess of the Nile', Rixo took over St Pancras Renaissance Hotel's Billing Office bar to showcase the collection. It was showcased in the presentation format with a diverse cast of models in standout dresses, portraying the feeling of 80's glamour. The more elevated pieces included hand embroidery and intricate techniques fusing Art Deco and Egyptian patterns.

JW Anderson

#2 JW ANDERSON

Staged at the Roundhouse in Camden, JW Anderson's eponymous brand reflected on its 15-year fashion history. Collaborating with Michael Clarke, a Scottish dancer and choreographer, the collection was not performance-led but in fact on the theme of London's AW23 catwalks.  The designer took the opportunity to look back through his archive and updated his signature pieces.

Things go so fast in fashion, you forget what you’ve done and where you’ve been. This was a reminder that it was worth all the work.

Reintroducing his classic designs such as the oversized collared opera coat, voluminous trousers and of course, his signature accessories the collection drew quite the footfall. With famous sightings such as Alexa Chung, Arlo Parks and Romeo Beckwith along with his girlfriend Mia Regan.

#3 Yuzefi

Yuzefi for AW23

Yuzefi Imagery

Staged in one of London's skyscrapers, Yuzefi's AW23 collection explored relaxed tailoring and structured shapes. There was a running theme of knot detailing from dresses to their standout sandals.

Key themes throughout were double denim and structured boing with very feminine shapes to then more androgynous looks, but all tailored none the less.
