The Dark Wall Interior Trend

A study incorporating the dark wall interior trend with charcoal grey walls and desk as well as a black chair.

Often passed over for shades of white or light, fresh colours, dark walls have been making an appearance more and more in some of the most stylish interiors over the past few years. Dramatic and statement-making, the dark wall interior trend looks best when used as a feature, rather than a dominating theme; use on doors, a hallway, or one wall of the room to keep the colour from being overwhelming.

As for colours, dark charcoal greys and blues look best, rather than reds or purples – plus, they’re more timeless. Pair it with clean white or softer shades of the colour to make a contrast, and create a balance with neutral materials; subtle marble accents, natural wood and simple accessories stop the colour from being too over-the-top. Use small plants to break up the darkness and add warmth to the space.
