Glance Hotel, Florence
Florence: a hub of centuries-old art and romantic winding streets, the home of Gucci and Roberto Cavalli. It’s not all about the history and tradition though; with Pitti Uomo taking over the city every January and June with the very latest in contemporary menswear, Florence also has a side to it that’s modern, boundary-pushing and refined, yet still full of that Florentine glamour.
Glance Hotel is the perfect example of the Florence that celebrates its past whilst still looking firmly into the future. Built in the 1950s and designed by Italo Gamberini, the Glance has recently been completely renovated by AMDB Studio, turning it into 69-room hotel full of modern details. Rooms come in neutral colours that create a sense of subtle luxury, with a lounge bar in soft tones and mid-century furnishings providing the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the city.
It’s the outside of the hotel that is perhaps the most impressive though. At the top of Glance Hotel sits a rooftop bar and pool – an unusual feature in this Italian city – where aperitivo is served during the warmer months and unobstructed views across Florence’s rooftops can be enjoyed.
