We’ve all heard the stories about band riders, from Van Halen’s legendary M&Ms request (no brown ones please) to Mariah Carey demanding a basket of puppies in her dressing room, but have you ever seen one?
Photographer Henry Hargreaves, along with work partner, chef and stylist Caitlin Levin, has visualised selected requests from some of the biggest artists in the business. Using a Flemish still life setting, a selection of items from each artists’ rider has been beautifully styled, lit and shot to recreate the Flemish style.
From Busta Rhymes’ 24 pieces of fried chicken, a condom and Guinness to Britney Spears’ framed photo of Princess Diana, each bizarre request is visualised perfectly, reflecting each personality and revealing a little more about the artist than they might like to.
