Matthew Cusick
Artist Matthew Cusick has developed an intricate and elaborate technique to create pieces depicting people, animals, landforms and seascapes.
These pieces are created by cutting segments of aged maps and cartographic works from encyclopedias, atlases and geography textbooks to create sometimes abstract and sometimes instantly recognisable forms.
The seascapes are particularly beautiful with the cartographic sea forming an image of a wave, something that 2D sea will never be. His pieces give life and movement to otherwise entirely static and flat forms.
