The Jean Fit Guide: A Style To Suit

Jeans are a staple piece of every man’s wardrobe. Offering an endless amount of outfit options, the jeans are a common go-to for achieving both a stylish casual and event look. Choosing the right style can be a difficult shopping dilemma, as not one style suits all. At Coggles we have hand-picked our favourite fits to guide you in achieving  your denim desire.

Slim Fit

One of the most popular styles of jean is the slim fit. Offering a hugging fit, they still have room to make a comfortable wear. Eliminating the appearance of bagginess, the style is suitably fitting for everyday or occasion wear. The opening at the ankle is slightly wider than that of a skinny fit and so broadens the choice for compatible footwear. The style can be worn rolled up or down and most suitably worn with chunkier footwear such as boots, trainers and in smarter situations, loafers.

Skinny Fit

Taking an even more fitted approach; the skinny jean. Having maintained value over a long period of time, popularity for the skinny jean does not seem to be slowing. Leaving even less room for slack material, the skinny fit adapts to the shape of the leg with help from stretch material employed. Cut slimmer all the way down, the slim fit aids the leg in enhancing muscular shapes. The skinny jean is a staple menswear piece that can be dressed up with some boots, a button up shirt and smart over coat, or dressed down with a long line t-shirt, long chain pendant and Converse.

Straight Fit

Straight through the hip, thigh and calves, the straight fit has the same width down the leg. Offering a relaxed look, the straight leg jean is an easy wear for any jean lover. The baggier shape provides the perfect casual outfit when matched with t-shirt and oversized unbuttoned shirt. Be sure not to wear too big a size as the fit naturally provides a bulky fit, but choose darker colours to allude to a more fitted effect.

Tapered Fit

The tapered fit seems a popular choice for men with larger legs as the cut follows an almost triangular from. Not being completely fitted, the style is looser at the top, and after the knee, tapers in downwards; creating a tighter fit around the calves. This style is the ideal casual look when paired with plimsoles, a t-shirt and denim jacket, but can easily be smartened with some brogues or loafers and a stylish blazer.
