JW Anderson SS19 Show Report

At JW Anderson SS19 traditional black iron railings frame a runway laid with oak parquet flooring. Models appear to a house beat, clad in leather headscarves adorned with gold chain detail. Overarching seasonal trends appear with white PVC boots, red block panel tailoring and sheer fabrication pioneering across a variety of looks.

Nautical netting and tribal inspired patterns accented on an otherwise neutral palette. Textures prevailed, with sequins, rope net and tassels meeting seam to seam across asymmetrical dresses, knee length skirts and heavy weight culottes.

Polo shirt detailing saw a nod to the remixed athleisure theme of the season, with scalloped breast panelling excentuating a dainty feminine frame. Miniature cowboy inspired boots in red, yellow and green were paired with Anderson’s iconic layered shirting, waterfall dress hems and drop shoulder silhouettes.

Tailored pieces with 80s inspired oversized shoulders and cinched in waistlines were paired with Anderson’s take on the chunky sneaker trend, as a platformed high top canvas sneaker in collaboration with Converse dominated as an immediate street style shoe to watch. Paired with skirts, suits and culottes, the classic disc bag was updated for another season, whilst scarfs were not only worn on heads but inspired skirts and bags with towel like tassels.

Bulbous shoulders in leopard print ruched to create an excessive silk occasion piece, created in a variety of colourways from lime green to grey. Tailored pieces saw military updates with external knee pads in contrasting colours and heavy weight boots, ranging from khaki to lemon, red and neon pink.

Netted bags were accompanied by leather pouches, whilst Anderson’s take on the tiny bag trend saw retro shapes and accenting chain details, which ran throughout the collection. Each model wore a gold key on a long chain around their neck, tying the looks together in the most minute detail. A multi-faceted summer dream, SS19 sees another feat for Jonathan Anderson.
