London Collections Men: Paul Smith SS16

A male model wearing a suit and riding a bike for the London Collections Men Paul Smith SS16 collection.

A Suit to Travel In has returned in Paul Smith’s SS16 collection, showcased at LC:M by stunt BMX cyclists Ben Savage and Keelan Phillips. The cyclists donned the suits and showed off their skills at the Hauser & Wirth Gallery on London’s Savile Row; the idea to show how the suits are virtually uncreasable, and ergo, perfect for travelling in.

Sir Paul first presented A Suit to Travel In during last season, but for SS16 it’s been updated for summer with the use of unlined and breathable cloth, created by Italian cloth-maker Loro Piana. True to Paul Smith’s signature style, the checkered suit comes in a variety of vibrant colours; mustard, green, grey and black, while bright citrus shades on trainers and socks added a pop of colour.

The suits were well-cut, tailored and smart, which is what we’ve come to expect from Paul Smith, but the innovation came in the fabric. Woven loosely, it combats heat and humidity and unlike traditional suits, won’t soak up perspiration. Stylish and functional? That’s a collection we can get on board with.
