Modernism Reimagined by Menu
During September 2016’s Maison&Objet in Paris, Danish brand Menu launched its Modernism Reimagined collection, which took inspiration from Modernist architects and designers to create space-saving solutions through the use of functional (and effortlessly stylish) objects.
The collection has now been extended, shown (once again) at the City of Light’s edition of Maison&Objet, which takes place 20-24 January of this year. As with the previous collection, Menu collaborated with creative individuals to create everyday objects that are useful, long-lasting and don’t compromise when it comes to that Scandinavian aesthetic.
The collection includes new pieces from Norm Architects, Afteroom, Rui Alves, Kenyon Yeh and Søren Rose, spanning pendant lighting, sofas, side tables, mirrors, vases and clocks. The result is a variety of furnishings and home accessories that are Modernist in design yet timeless in their approach, with neutral colours that are easy to incorporate into a space and – more importantly -won’t date.
Standout designs from the collection include the brown Tailor Sofa by Rui Alves, which was inspired by his grandfather’s favourite tailor shop, the oversized glass and brass vase by Arns, and the charcoal-coloured Cast Pendants by Tom Chung & Jordan Murphy.
