Aman Tokyo
Located at the top of the 40-storey Otemachi Tower, Aman Tokyo is a serene urban retreat at the heart of Japan’s bustling capital. The hotel – which opened in December 2014 – takes up the top six floors of the tower, and reflects traditional Japanese architecture, design and culture throughout.
Upon entry, you’re greeted into the main public area designed as though a giant shoji lantern, complete with a small pool and floral centrepiece. Greys, natural woods and whites make up the colour palette in the hotel, creating a clean and calming space, while sliding washi paper shoji screens, kimonos and raised platforms tie traditional Japanese features in seamlessly.
One of the most striking elements of the hotel is the swimming pool. Set on the 34th floor, the infinity pool has views out to the high-rise city around it, as well as Mount Fuji in the distance. Take a dip at sunset before heading to the restaurant for some of the finest dishes that blend Mediterranean and Japanese flavours, or heading out into the city.
